Souper Bowl of Caring Food Drive
Feb. 2nd, 2008, 8 A.M. – 6 P.M.
St John’s Lutheran Church, located at 7205 N. 51st Avenue, will be collecting monetary and non-perishable food donations to be given to Lutheran Social Services Westside Food Pantry. Each side of the parking lot will be designated to one of the teams playing in the actual Super Bowl. The items will be placed on the sidelines of the team you want to win. At the end of the day the team with the most donations will be crowned the “Souper Bowl Champion.” Bring your donations and be a “Souper Fan” and make a difference in someone’s life. Our goal is to help “Kick Hunger out of the West Valley.”

Thanksgiving Eve Worship and Dessert Festival
Long a tradition at St. John's, Thanksgiving Eve worship will begin at 7:30 PM on Wednesday, November 21, and will be followed by a Dessert festival. Bring your favorite dessert with you, come ready to sing those good Thanksgiving hymns, and give thanks to God for a good life in 2007.
A Different Kind of Worship Experience
On the weekend of December 1-2, Pastors Irvin and Eskritt will not be preaching traditionally, but rather discussing and describing just why we do the things we do in worship. Why is it that we follow the format we do? Why do we start the Service with the Confession of Sins, stand for the reading of the Holy Gospel, make the sign of the cross? The answers to these questions and many others will be the focus of this Service.
Advent Family Night Returns - November 25th
The Fellowship Committee and the Home Grown Faith Team have teamed up to offer an evening of food, entertainment, crafts and worship to usher in the Advent season in our community of faith! We will have pork roast and gravy for just $1.00 per person - every family bring a side dish or salad to share; the church will supply the beverages and dessert. We’ll start at 5:30 pm with dinner and finish up by 8:00 pm.
Samples of the crafts chosen for this year will be on display starting November 3rd and 4th for you to preview. There will be a Christmas Box, a Count Down To Christmas Candy Cup, a Custom Made “By You” Ornament, a Clove & Cinnamon Orange, and a Bird Treat Pinecone. All materials and instructions will be available at the cost of just a dollar each. You can make and keep these for yourselves or maybe make them for others to give away!
In order to plan the right amount of food and craft materials, tickets for all of these will go on sale starting November 3rd and 4th - look for our table! Plan on a great fellowship
