Hiking Schedule

2007-2008 Combined Hiking Schedule for St Johns & Christ the Redeemer churches

Hikes will carpool & leave from the St. John’s parking lot  (Myrtle & 51st Ave) promptly at the time specified for that hike. If there is much mileage involved, be sure to give your driver money towards gas, or for the parking fee (if one) paid at the trail head.  Bring water to last 2-hrs, plus  a snack item is good. It’s best to wear hiking boots (sneakers will slip on stones) and clothes that can be removed, as it warms up. A walking stick can  be helpful.  Hikers vary in walking speed and endurance, we  usually have groups that fall in a slow to fast pace.  Do what is comfortable for you!  Your driver will wait for you at the trail head parking area (we haven’t lost a hiker yet!).  Feel free to pass along any hikes you feel might be good to include in the next  hiking schedule.

Contact persons are:    Bruce Selden (St Johns), Pastor Gail Schmidt (Christ the Redeemer).

April 19th “Lakin Nature Trail #60”:  This is an easy to moderate 1.2 mile loop trail, located at the north end of  “Mountain View Park” on 7th Avenue (N. of Hatcher Rd).  As it can still be warm  this time of year, we will leave the St. John’s parking lot at 6:30am sharp.

May 10th - Prescott Peavine Trail.  This mostly level hike follows old railroad tracks not removed.  This trail affords a close-p look at some of the most spectacular scenery in the entire state.  This trail goes for many miles, but most of us will go 2 to 3 miles returning by the same trail.  We Will probably stop at a fast food place on the way home.  We will leave St. John's parking lot at 6:30 am sharp.

All are welcome.

Happy Hiking!!
